This month, we're talking with Mikeah Irving, Investment Director at PHD, to discuss her experience working in the media industry and what she loves about OOH.
How long have you been in your current role?
5 months.
What made you want to enter the advertising industry?
I have always been interested in the way brands connect with people and influence behaviors and perceptions. But also, the dynamic nature of the industry excites me. Every day presents a new challenge and the opportunity to work on diverse campaigns across different brands.
What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day would be a blend of managing my team, liaising between clients and creative agencies, campaign management, media buying and negotiating with media owners. (And the fun stuff like finance and reporting.)
What do you love about working in media?
The PEOPLE. I love meeting new faces.
What makes OOH unique?
OOH can offer brands a lot of creative freedom and ability to experiment with innovative formats at a large scale.
Proudest achievement in your career so far?
Being nominated for B&T’s 30u30.
Fun fact about you not many people know?
Prior to media, I had a little side hustle as a make-up artist.
What is your favourite OOH campaign?
My favorite OOH campaign to work on so far would have to be the Pepsi Max rebrand. We went BIG and had the ability to bring to life some super impactful, media-first executions.
